A Heartfelt Tribute: KCC Successfully Concludes "Mapiya Vandana" Programme for Vesak Week

In conjunction with the KCC Vesak Week, Kekirawa Central College successfully hosted the "Mapiya Vandana Pinkama" on May 29, 2026. Organized by the Buddhist Association and the Prefect Guild, the event allowed students to traditionally honor their parents. The programme featured a profound sermon by Ven. Padikaramaduwe Chandima Thero, making it a deeply spiritual and emotional morning that reinforced the core values of gratitude and respect.

As a beautiful and emotional conclusion to the Kekirawa Central College Vesak Week observances, the highly anticipated "Mapiya Vandana Pinkama" (Parents Tribute Programme) was successfully held on Friday, May 29th, at the college premises. The event brought together students and their parents for a deeply moving morning dedicated to expressing boundless gratitude and invoking supreme Vesak blessings upon the mothers and fathers who bring light to our lives.

Organized through the collaborative efforts of the Buddhist Association and the Prefect Guild, the event was a resounding success, filled with spiritual reflection and traditional values.

A Morning of Boundless Gratitude and Spiritual Guidance

The college grounds were filled with a profound sense of peace and respect as parents gathered early in the morning. Seated on white mats, they were honored by their children in true traditional Buddhist fashion, with students offering sheaves of betel leaves to pay their ultimate respects.

The programme was elevated by an inspiring and emotionally resonant sermon (Anushasana) delivered by Ven. Padikaramaduwe Chandima Thero, the Chief Incumbent of Kinihirikanda Rajamaha Viharaya, Parivenadhipathi of Siri Gunarathana Pirivena, and a distinguished Rajakeeya Panditha. The venerable thero’s words beautifully guided the students on the supreme value of honoring one's parents, drawing timeless lessons from the Dhamma.
