Spiritual Awakening at Mother Central: KCC Conducts Vesak Seela Samadana and Classroom Buddha Statue Enshrining Ceremony
In commemoration of Vesak, Kekirawa Central College observed a sacred Seela Samadana Pinkama today, which included a Dhamma sermon, a Dhamma discussion, meditation, Seth Pirith chanting, and a historic ceremony enshrining Buddha statues in classrooms. The religious events will conclude this week with the "Mapiya Sambhavana" parents tribute programme scheduled for Friday, May 29th.
In celebration of the sacred season of Vesak, Kekirawa Central College transformed into a sanctuary of peace and devotion today as the school successfully conducted a series of deeply enriching religious programmes. Guided by Buddhist traditions, the events were organized to cultivate mindfulness, discipline, and spiritual values among the student body.
A historic highlight of today's meritorious activities was the official enshrining of Buddha statues across all classrooms, ensuring that daily school life continues to be blessed with serenity and moral grounding.
A Day Filled with Devotion and Dhamma
The spiritual itinerary for the day was meticulously planned, allowing students and staff members to completely immerse themselves in religious observances. The main features of the day included:
- Vesak Seela Samadana: A large gathering of students and teachers observed the Eight Precepts (Sil), spending the day in deep reflection and devotion.
- Enshrining of Buddha Statues: Sacred Buddha statues were ceremonially brought and placed in the school's classrooms, creating a peaceful environment for daily morning religious observances.
- Dhamma Sermon & Discussion (Dharma Deshana & Dharma Sakachcha): Inspiring sessions conducted by venerable theros, allowing the school community to clarify doubts and better understand the practical application of the Dhamma in daily life.
- Meditation Session (Bhavana): A guided mindfulness practice aimed at enhancing the mental well-being, focus, and inner peace of the participants.
- Seth Pirith Chanting: The air was filled with blessings as a powerful Seth Pirith recital was conducted to invoke protection, health, and success upon the entire college, its administration, and its students.
